On the Freedom to Spend and Invest

It makes no sense to me why gambling in our country is regulated and monopolized by a select few. Games such as jueteng, although remains rampant, is illegal. While others like lottery or raffles or bingo is legal.

Gambling is pretty much a part of our daily lives. It is deeply rooted in our history and culture. Gambling is a form of trading. It is no different from investments or any other perks of our capitalist system. To spend what we earned however it pleases us, for as long as it does not interfere with the liberties of others. Gambling is a game just like any other.

It seems to me that the only real role of the government is to choose those acts that are acceptable and those that are not.

Some say gambling destroys lives. But it is very apparent that no one is forced to gamble. You are merely given a choice. No one has the right to deprive us of this choice. To regulate gambling is against the interests of a free society. Freely legalize and deregulate gambling now.
